Gift Genie, LLC · Last updated: May 26, 2026. This policy explains how the Gift Genie iOS app collects, uses, and protects your information.
This Privacy Policy explains how Gift Genie, LLC ("Gift Genie," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Gift Genie iOS application (the "App") and this website. Gift Genie is a Delaware limited liability company with a registered office at 611 South DuPont Highway, Suite 102, Dover, DE 19901, c/o ZenBusiness Inc., Registered Agent.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information You Provide
When you create an account and use the App, you may provide:
- Account profile details, including your name, email address, account password (stored only as a hash by Firebase Authentication), and optional profile photo, birthday, and gender.
- Contacts you add inside the App, including names, phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, birthdays, anniversaries, other important dates, relationship type, notes, optional contact photos, and optional social handles. Contacts are added by you, one at a time or by selecting individual contacts during an import. We do not upload your entire address book.
- Events and holidays, including titles, descriptions, dates, event types, and reminder preferences.
- Gift information, including occasion, budget, recipient description, recipient preferences ("likes," "avoid," and "owns"), saved gift ideas, gift notes (text and attached photos), and your interactions with results (likes, dislikes, saves, favorites).
- Digital card content, including card messages, card prompts, generated card covers, and any source image you choose to upload for AI cover refinement.
2. Sign-In and Account Services
- You can create or access your account using Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email and password.
- Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. Passwords are stored as salted hashes by Firebase; we never see or store your plaintext password.
- If you choose Sign in with Apple and select "Hide My Email," Apple may share a private relay email address with us instead of your real address. We treat that relay address the same as any other account email.
- For Google Sign-In, Google shares your name, email address, and profile photo URL with us subject to your Google account settings.
3. AI Features
The App offers AI assisted features such as personalized gift suggestions, card message suggestions, AI generated card covers, and the Gift Concierge. When you use these features, our Cloud Functions send the relevant prompt context to an AI service provider (currently OpenAI) so the provider can generate the response.
Prompt context may include:
- The recipient's first and last name, your stated relationship to them, optional birthday or derived age, optional city or address you saved, the freetext notes and profile summary you wrote, recorded "likes / avoid / owns" preferences, any social handles you added, and a short history of prior gift interactions tied to this person.
- The occasion, budget, and freetext prompt for the specific request.
- For card features, the card message you wrote, the cover prompt you entered, and, for AI cover refinement, the source image you uploaded.
AI requests are made server to server from our Cloud Functions using a private API key. Your device does not talk to the AI provider directly. We do not send your phone number, your email address, your billing details, or contacts other than the specific recipient. AI generated suggestions are assistive and may be inaccurate; please review before relying on them.
4. Purchases and Subscriptions
- Gift Genie offers auto-renewable subscriptions (Gift Genie Pro Monthly and Gift Genie Pro Yearly) and consumable AI credit packs. These are sold exclusively through Apple's In-App Purchase system.
- Apple processes payment under your Apple ID. Gift Genie does not collect or store your credit card number, bank account, or other payment instrument.
- RevenueCat manages subscription status, entitlement syncing, restore purchases, product identifiers, and purchase history. RevenueCat receives your Firebase Authentication user ID (so it can match purchases to your account), Apple App Store transaction identifiers, and the subscription or entitlement metadata returned from Apple. We do not share your name, email, phone number, or contacts with RevenueCat.
5. Analytics and Diagnostics
- We use Firebase Analytics and related Firebase diagnostic tools to understand how users engage with the App so we can fix bugs, prioritize features, and measure activation funnels.
- Collected events include screen views, button taps, feature usage, paywall views, subscription purchases, and similar product events, along with your Firebase Authentication user ID and standard mobile device identifiers (IDFV, not IDFA), device type, and operating system version.
- We may also collect crash logs and basic diagnostic information when the App encounters an error.
- We do not enable Apple's App Tracking Transparency tracking and we do not link analytics data to advertising networks.
6. Notifications
- With your permission, we send push notifications for birthday reminders, holiday and event reminders, gift and card reminders, and similar product reminders.
- To deliver notifications we store a push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging token) associated with your account, along with your reminder preferences and quiet hours.
- You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings or adjust per feature toggles inside the App under Profile → Preferences.
7. Storage and Infrastructure
Your data is stored on Google Firebase services located in the United States, including:
- Firebase Authentication for account credentials.
- Cloud Firestore for user profiles, contacts, events, gift searches, gift interactions, gift notes, and notification tokens.
- Firebase Cloud Storage for profile photos, contact photos, gift note photos, and card images.
- Firebase Cloud Functions for server side processing, including AI prompt assembly, product search, and entitlement management.
- Firebase Hosting for our marketing and legal pages.
All data transmission to and from Firebase uses HTTPS. Access is restricted by Firebase Security Rules that limit each user to their own data.
8. Third-Party Services
The App and this website rely on the following service providers to operate. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Apple (App Store, StoreKit, Sign in with Apple, Apple Speech Recognition for optional voice dictation in gift notes). Privacy policy

- SerpApi for server side product image enrichment (only product titles and descriptions are sent; no account identifiers). Privacy policy
- Walmart product search API for server side gift matching (only product titles and descriptions are sent). Privacy policy
- Clearbit Logo for displaying brand logos next to gift suggestions (only a brand domain string is sent). Privacy policy
- Amazon Associates Program and other affiliate or retailer programs for outbound product links. Amazon privacy
- Formspree for processing waitlist form submissions on this website.
9. Affiliate and Retailer Links
Some gift recommendations and product cards include links that open in your browser to third party retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and gift card providers. Gift Genie, LLC participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may participate in other affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link and make a qualifying purchase on the retailer's site, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence which gifts the AI recommends; recommendations are generated from the recipient information and preferences you provide.
Purchases on third party retailer sites are separate from Apple In-App Purchase. Once you leave the App, the retailer's own privacy policy and terms apply.
10. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it for third party marketing purposes. We share data only with the service providers listed in Section 8, and only to the extent needed to operate the App on your behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law, to comply with a legal obligation, to protect our rights or property, to investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the App, or to protect the personal safety of users or the public.
If Gift Genie, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you through the App or by email of any change in ownership.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App, comply with our legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain business records. Anonymous or aggregated analytics data may be retained for longer to help us understand product trends.
12. Account Deletion and Privacy Requests
You can delete your account at any time inside the App, by going to Profile → Security & Account → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent. It removes your profile, contacts, events, gift searches, gift notes, saved cards, uploaded photos, and notification tokens. You can also request deletion by emailing giftgenie.owner@gmail.com from the address associated with your account, or by using our Support page.
Deleting your account inside the App does not cancel an active App Store subscription. To cancel a subscription, open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
13. Children
The App is not directed to or intended for children under 13, and is not intended for users under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact giftgenie.owner@gmail.com and we will delete the account and associated data.
14. Your Rights and Choices
- You can access and update most of your information directly inside the App.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by emailing giftgenie.owner@gmail.com.
- You can revoke device permissions (Camera, Photo Library, Contacts, Microphone, Notifications) at any time in iOS Settings.
- If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what we collect, the right to delete, and the right to non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information.
- If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.
15. Website Visitors
When you visit giftgenie.info we may also use Google Analytics and standard server logs to understand site usage. Affiliate and retailer cookies may be set on your browser by third parties when you click an outbound product link. Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
